Six Outlet POS reports answer three questions about your till sales: which products sold, who bought them, and at which location. Each comes as a Summary (one row per product, customer or location) and a Detail (every sale and return line, grouped the same way). Owners and managers use them to see best sellers, regular customers and how each location is performing, for a shop that sells through the Outlet POS.

They read the same sales and returns as Outlet Sales Summary and Outlet Sales Detail, so the totals always agree with those two reports. They read your saved sales directly: there is nothing to post or refresh, and sales from before these reports existed are included.

Before you start

  • Permission. Administrators see all six straight away. Any other user sees a report only when it is ticked under Reports in their permission profile. See Users, seats & permissions.
  • Outlet POS sales only. Back-office invoices, credits and the legacy POS invoice are not in these reports. For those, use the Sales by Product, Sales by Customer and Sales by Location reports in the Customer and Sales category.

Open Reports, choose the Outlet POS category, and pick one. You can also type its name in the search box.

Reading a Summary

Every Summary shows these figures for each row:

FigureWhat it is
SalesThe number of outlet sales in the row.
ReturnsThe number of outlet returns in the row.
SubtotalQuantity times price, before discounts and without tax.
Total DiscEvery discount given: line discounts, order discounts and offers.
Net RevenueWhat the sales earned after discounts, without tax.
Total Tax AmountThe tax charged.
Total Amount with TaxWhat the lines came to, tax included.
Total Gross Profit (net of discounts)Net Revenue less the cost of what was sold.
Gross Profit %Gross profit as a percentage of Net Revenue.

Returns count against the row they belong to, so every figure is net of returns. A voided sale is left out entirely.

Customize adds more columns, including Order + Offer Disc, Disc %, Total Cost, Total Actual Cost, Gross Profit on Avg Cost and Gross Profit % on Avg Cost.

Each report then adds figures of its own:

  • By Product shows Product Code, Product Name and Product Category, and splits the quantity into Qty Sold, Qty Returned and Net Qty. Average Cost is available under Customize. It has no payment columns: one payment covers a whole sale, so it cannot be honestly split between the products in it.
  • By Customer shows Customer and Customer Phone, then Amount (the sales' document totals) and how they were paid: Cash, Card and Credit, with Bank, Exchange, Gift, Delivery Charge, Total Settled Amount and Balance Due Amount under Customize.
  • By Location shows Location and the same Amount and payment columns as By Customer.

Walk-in and marketplace customers

A sale rung up without naming a customer is booked to Walk-In Customer, so all walk-ins appear together as one row. An Uber Eats, PickMe or Daraz order with no named customer appears under that platform's customer, one row per platform.

Products sold in more than one unit

With the Multiple Units of Measurement app installed, By Product shows one row per product and unit, so pieces and boxes are never added together in one quantity.

Open the Detail behind a row

Double-click a row in a Summary (or select it and press Enter) to open the matching Detail report for the same dates, filtered to that product, customer or location. It lists each sale and return line that makes up the row, and its totals equal the row you opened.

A Detail row is the end of the trail: it does not open the sale itself.

Filter, save and export

  • Filters: narrow a Summary by its own columns, for example one Customer Type. A Detail can be filtered by any of its columns, such as Product Category, Store, Device, Sales Rep or Paid By.
  • Save: keeps the report with its dates, filters and columns as a saved report.
  • Print and Export: print the report as shown or download it as an Excel workbook.
